The announcement comes as rumours
have been increasingly circulated about a mooted Apple iPad Mini launch
at the end of this month or beginning of November.
It has been announced that Microsoft will launch its new Surface tablet alongside Windows 8 on October 25 at midnight throughout the US.
There is still no confirmation as to when we will see the tablet launch over in the UK and the rest of Europe but US customers will have the chance to snap one up from a series of pop up stores that will be set up.
The announcement may have been planned by Microsoft to steal some of Apple’s spotlight if it is indeed true or to increase hype about Windows 8 which launches on October 29.
There is still no word on pricing or a detailed spec review about whether the tablet is actually any good or not but it will certainly be interesting to see whether it can steal some of Apple’s thunder.
